Gems are the second currency in the game. They can be use to create a town, expand a town, and connect a town to another.
Ways to Get Gems
Obtaining Gems By In App Purchase[]
The "Gems" button in the upper right corner of the screen normally displays the amount of gems you currently have. If you click on that button, the screen shown at right appears. Sometimes the button isn't there and so you will have to click gold and then click the gems icon on the left. You can purchase gems using real money:
1,000 gems for $9.99 (£8.99)
2,800 gems for $24.99 (£21.99)
5,000 gems for $39.99 (£34.99)
13,500 gems for $99.99 (£89.99)
Many Builder Buddies players quit playing in less than a month. Those that play longer than that are true fans of the game. It is suggested that you don't buy gems with real dollars right away, but wait a while until you know that you really love the game. Some people buy gems when they want to start a town (which costs 500 gems and it is recommended to only use gems for when you can't expand and using gold for everything else like normal expanding and creating a town). Others treat themselves to in-game gems as a special present with some of their birthday money.
Note that the Gems in-app purchase is one of the few ways the developer is funding the game. The game is free and there are no irritating pop-up ads. Purchasing gems with real U.S. dollars helps support the developer, ensuring that new features are added to the game that you love.

/town donategems 10 Donates 10 gems to the town. You do not have to be a member of a town to do this.
Buying a Mount with Gems (from Supreme Jarol)[]
To buy a mount with gems, you at least need 2800 gems to get a mount. Gems are really expensive!
Getting Free Gems In Builder Buddies[]
To get free gems in Builder Buddies, you need to click a button on the corner that looks like a video then watch an ad and get free gems! You get 1 gem each ad.
